Possession of Open Container of Alcohol

In the District of Columbia, it is a misdemeanor to possess an open container of alcohol on the street and in many other places including:

A street, alley, park, sidewalk, or parking area;

A vehicle in or upon any street, alley, park, or parking area;

A business without a liquor license that either sells food and nonalcoholic drinks or is used for entertainment;

Any business open to the public that does not have a liquor license

Any business with a liquor license during a time where the sale of liquor is prohibited (outside the times allowed by the liquor license);

Any place licensed under a club license during a time where the sale of liquor is prohibited (outside the times allowed by the liquor license).
